Our Story

Originally called The Tax Man, Ken Oase’s business received a major boost 30 years ago when the Tucson Citizen sent an undercover reporter to have the same tax return prepared by Ken and by three other accountants. The results were published in an article titled “Nothing’s Certain Except Death, Not Even Taxes.” The story revealed strikingly different outcomes. The other preparers not only calculated the taxes owed incorrectly, but they also charged significantly higher fees.

When David Oase was 16, he received his first computer—an IBM Datamaster, that arrived long before personal computers were common. It was used exclusively for preparing tax returns back then. During summer breaks he helped his father’s accounting business by writing an entirely new bookkeeping program for the Datamaster. David continued working alongside Ken until Ken’s passing in 2016.
