Our name is changing, but we aren't.
You may have already noticed the name Red Alder showing up in a few places.
Our client portal has been rebranded. Our new website is coming next. New email addresses will follow when the website rolls out, which we currently anticipate happening in July or August of 2026.
And naturally, when a name changes, people wonder what else is changing.
So let us say this clearly right up front: the people, ownership, location, and care behind this firm are not changing. You are still working with the same team, the same values, and the same commitment to helping you feel steady, supported, and confident.
Red Alder is about giving a clearer name, voice, and identity to who we are growing into.
For a long time, the name David Oase, CPA served this firm well. It carried trust. It carried relationships. It carried decades of clients knowing they had someone they could call when tax season felt heavy, confusing, or just plain irritating. And it only meant one important thing:
We take the pain out of taxes.
We still believe that. Absolutely.
But today, our work means more than that.
We still prepare tax returns. We still answer questions. We still help you get through filing deadlines with as much clarity and as little stress as possible.
But we are also helping business owners make better decisions throughout the year. We are helping families think through the future. We are helping clients understand how tax law applies to their real life, not just what happened after the year was already over.
That kind of work deserves a brand that reflects the full team behind it.
That is why we are becoming Red Alder.
Our work kept growing, so did we
The roots of this firm go back to 1978, when Ken Oase started the business out of his home under the name “The Tax Man.”
At that time, it was a much smaller operation. Ken served clients well, but there was not yet a year-round team around him in the way there is today.
That changed in 1990, when David Oase took over the business and the firm became David Oase, CPA. That chapter brought more structure, more availability, and more support for individual and business clients throughout the year.
This is what that matters. Because life does not wait until tax season to get complicated.
Business decisions do not only happen in March and April. Payroll questions, cash flow concerns, entity decisions, growth opportunities, family transitions, and tax planning needs show up all year long.
As our clients have grown, we have grown with them.
And as the tax code has become more complicated, our role has continued to expand. More rules. More nuance. More planning opportunities. More moments where a simple answer is not always the best answer.
That is why our clients need more than forms filled out correctly.
They need thoughtful guidance.
They need a team that can help them position decisions efficiently and intelligently within current tax law.
They need people who can slow the noise down, explain what matters, and help them move forward without panic.
That is the work we are proud to do.
Why the name needed to grow, too
David’s name has carried this firm for a long time, and it has carried it with care.
But the firm is no longer represented by one person alone.
When you call, email, visit, or send us a question, you are being supported by a team. You may be working with David, Chad, or another familiar face, but behind every answer is a group of people who care about doing the work well and doing it the right way.
That matters to us.
It matters because our clients are not just hiring one person. You are trusting a team to understand your business, your family, your goals, your pressure points, and the bigger picture behind the numbers.
The name Red Alder gives us room to express that more clearly.
It reflects the way we already work: steady, grounded, human, thoughtful, and built around long-term relationships.
There is meaning tucked into the name and the mark. Roots. Strength. Growth. Stability. The quiet kind of support that helps create better conditions around it.
We will share more of that story as the brand rolls out.
For now, what we want you to know is this: Red Alder was chosen because it feels like us.
Not stiff. Not cold. Not corporate.
Now is grounded and warm. Strong yet approachable, and is built to last.
What has not changed
When a business updates its name, it is easy for people to wonder what that means for them.
So here is what it means for you.
You will still work with the same people.
You will still find us in the same location.
The ownership has not changed.
Our commitment to you has not changed.
Our care for doing things the right way has not changed.
We are still the same firm that believes kindness comes first.
We are still the same firm that believes in honest answers, clear explanations, and no shame when you ask a question.
We are still the same firm that would rather help you understand your options than overwhelm you with accounting language.
We are still the same firm that takes the work seriously, but not ourselves.
And we are still the same firm that believes the best accounting relationships are built over time, with trust, transparency, and a shared desire to make better decisions.
In a lot of ways, the branding is finally catching up to the kind of work we’ve already been doing.
That is the simplest way to say it.
What you’ll start noticing over the next few months
Over the coming months, you will start to see the Red Alder name and visual identity appear more consistently.
As mentioned, our portal has already been rebranded. When the new website launches, we will also begin rolling out new email addresses.
We will make that transition as smooth as possible. You will not be left guessing who to contact or where to send something. As we get closer, we will make sure you have what you need.
You may also notice our language becoming clearer around the full scope of what we do.
Tax will always be an important part of our work. Accounting will always matter. Compliance will always matter.
But advisory and long-term guidance are becoming easier to see, because they have become such an important part of how we serve.
We want clients to know they can come to us before the decision is already made.
Before the purchase.
Before the hire.
Before the entity change.
Before the year ends.
Before the stress piles up.
That is where good guidance can make a real difference.
Not by chasing shortcuts. Not by making things more complicated than they need to be. But by helping you understand where you stand, what your options are, and how to move forward in a way that supports the life and business you are building.
What Red Alder means for current clients
For our current clients, Red Alder means the same steady support with a clearer identity around it.
You do not need to worry that the firm you have trusted is disappearing. It is not.
You are simply seeing the next expression of it.
Red Alder gives us a better way to talk about the kind of partnership we want to build with you: one that is proactive, practical, honest, and long-term.
We want you to feel comfortable bringing us questions early.
We want you to feel safe being honest when something feels messy.
We want you to feel confident that you have people looking at the details and the bigger picture.
And we want you to know that our goal is not only to get work done. Our goal is to help you breathe easier, make better decisions, and feel less alone with the financial side of your life and business.
That has always been the heart of this firm.
Now the brand reflects it more fully.
What Red Alder means for referral partners
To our referral partners, thank you.
A firm like ours does not grow only because of a name, a website, or a logo. It grows because people trust us enough to send someone they care about our way.
We do not take that lightly.
When you refer someone to us, you are putting part of your relationship in our hands. Red Alder is our way of making it easier for you to understand and explain who we are best suited to serve.
We are a strong fit for growth-minded business owners and individuals who value advice, honesty, and long-term thinking.
We work best with people who want to do things right, who are open to guidance, and who care about building something steady.
That is the kind of relationship we want to protect and grow.
Thank you for getting us here
This firm started in a home in 1978.
It became David Oase, CPA in 1990.
And now, in 2026, it will become Red Alder.
Not because we are leaving the past behind, but because the past helped build something strong enough to carry forward.
To every client who has trusted us with your taxes, your questions, your business, your family, and your future: thank you.
To every referral partner who has said, “You should talk to them”: thank you.
To everyone who has grown with us, challenged us, laughed with us, and allowed us to be part of important decisions: thank you.
We are glad you are here.
We are grateful you helped get us here.
And we are honored to continue serving you as Red Alder.
