We are excited to share some important news with you: David Oase CPA is becoming Red Alder Accountants.

This name change is more than a new logo or a fresh look. It is the next chapter in a story that began nearly fifty years ago.

In the late 1970s, my father, Ken, started an accounting firm from his home. He called it The Taxman, and from those humble beginnings he built a practice centered on helping people, families, and small businesses navigate their financial lives. He ran the firm from the house until 1990, when my sister stepped in and took over the business. She renamed the firm Oase Stevens, a name I have always been fond of and, truthfully, still one of my favorites from our history.

A couple of years later, my sister left the business to raise her children, and my dad asked me to step in. I did, and I continued operating under the Oase Stevens name for several years. Eventually, because of professional naming rules at the time, we were required to change the firm name. That led us to David Oase CPA, the name many of you have known us by for a long time.

Over the years, the accounting profession has continued to change, including how firms are named and branded. We began thinking seriously about a new name that could carry the firm forward, not just for me, but for the people who will continue serving our clients in the future. Chad and I discussed many possibilities over several years, but nothing felt quite right. Eventually, we brought in outside help from a marketing firm. After exploring several options and reviewing trademark availability, we chose Red Alder.

We liked the name because it feels steady, natural, and enduring. It gives us room to grow while honoring the fact that this firm has never really been about one person’s name on the door. It has always been about service, relationships, and trust.

As many of you know, I am now at a point in my career where I am thinking more about the long-term future of the firm. While I am not going anywhere right away, over the next five to ten years I expect to slow down or eventually retire. Choosing a name like Red Alder helps make sure the firm can continue beyond mine, beyond any one owner, and continue serving clients for many years to come.

Although our name is changing, the heart of the firm is not. You will continue working with the same people, in the same office, with the same commitment to careful, thoughtful accounting and tax service that has guided us from the beginning.

Over the next several months, you will begin seeing the Red Alder name appear on our emails, receipts, website, and other materials. Our current website and contact information will transition gradually, and we will keep you informed as those changes happen. Our goal is to make the process as smooth and simple as possible for you.

Thank you for being part of our story. Whether you have been with us for decades or joined us more recently, we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us. We are proud of where we came from, and we are excited about where we are going.

We look forward to continuing to serve you as Red Alder Accountants.
